Corrierino’s open again so if you all want to make accounts there you should do so before more bots cause them to close their doors again.
Just registered RN.
Everything is terrible.

idk man - looking at the page, they have less activity on most days then we have had recently.  Like on Friday they had 1 thread active and only 3 posts all day.  Thursday was 1 single post all day.  Seems like they're dying the same death we are, only I still have hope that some of the lurkers like Danny Oh, Cutler, and Diego will decide to start posting again if they want.  Not sure that's happening over at Correntio.
They've already had 19 posts today, and it's not even noon.

Their time is messed up by like half a day.  But my original point still stands - look at Thursday and Friday.

They definitely don't have a ton of activity either, but they have the benefit of having way more members than us.  So even if every member only posts a couple of times a week, it adds up to quite a lot.

Also - Skype with me and frank this evening?

It would have to be a lot later like around 11 or so.  But I'm down at around that time for sure.

Corrierino’s open again so if you all want to make accounts there you should do so before more bots cause them to close their doors again.

I checked it out the first time you suggested it, and like Dylan, I am not that impressed. A closer look revealed that it's GD's off-site forum, active since 2010. (A fact which partially explains their post count clearly dwarfing ours.) Given that Kashmir had by far the best relations with GD at the time when we were all "DVD Discussion" people to them, it makes sense that he found out about this, too.

Now, I think it might be time for me to share here a bit of forum trivia no-one else here may have known of.  Seeing GD's secret forum had also reminded me of something I discovered back in mid-2014. For the latecomers like Raynor, that time was the interregnum when the individual movie forums we loved were killed off, and we weren't yet shunted off to then-vacant DVD Discussion forums, and so had been in conflict with both GD and OT. Well, most everyone else was: as usual, I was largely an irrelevant shadow in that drama, patiently waiting for it to end.

However, when Quite-Gone Genie (for Raynor et al; that's the mod we interacted the most with) revealed that he could read our "secret forums" (Godzilla, Bone Sickness and the like) all along, he also let slip in the moment of his triumph that they had something similar. I don't think anyone else picked up on it. However, I soon ran a few searches and discovered OT's secret off-site forum, Kateland, which was also used by RT-related people like Fujitani. Not much went on there at the time, except for the threads dis(cus)sing us in general and Diego in particular. If you are interested, here they are:

So, there's that I didn't post it at the time, because I knew it would cause then-dying-down conflict between us to boil over, and very likely result in us all falling under the banhammer. Then, other things happened, and I simply forgot all about it, up until the recent events. For better or worse, they probably forgot much of it either. Then again, given that half of those posts are a hate circle-jerk targeting Diego alone (with an honorary mention for Flounder when they assumed his Trollfighters' screenplay was Diego's), they probably never remembered most of us present today in the first place.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't have posted this even 6 months ago, but now that so many want to bail from here, it's like this doesn't even matter anymore. Though, I suppose it's worth mentioning that they seem to keep going with a userbase that seems somewhere halfway between ours and Corrierino's. (Though some are trying to flee there too.)

Oh, God, they mention the initial Trollfighters script on that one...

Reading through this, they had the exact same dorky mindset that we had.  I know they tried to act so high above us (and us above them) but they're really just a nerdier version of us.

Truth.  Also like how the RT mods were there basically colluding with them to try and oust us from the get go.

Yeah, I know. I ought to start posting more myself soon. I have recently discovered that  Lurkmore got unblocked here indeterminate time ago (or perhaps it's just their latest, Luxembourg web address that slipped the net for now.) and I have been scanning it for the past week in case it gets blocked again soon. Essentially, it's a wiki that was started by members of 2ch, or "Dvach", as it's pronounced in Russia, and is like this heavy mix of our wiki, Encyclopedia Dramatica and RationalWiki, of all things. Hence, they devote roughly even amount of coverage to their memes and "raids", trollish and edgy articles on controversial topics (i.e. the main reason they get banned here time and time again is for articles describing how to get high on cough syrup, etc.) and brutal takedowns of both prominent public figures and irrelevant, yet fascinating political/"spiritual" freaks, respectively.

In particular, the stuff about our (more often then not, pathetic) online Satanists and Neo-Pagans is the hardest I've laughed in a while. I'll be sure to share the highlights once I get through it. The way they write on more mainstream political things should also answer quite a few questions about our politics Kashmir and Diego might have, at least from a certain subset's POV.

Yeah - I've found myself posting a little more to keep it rolling until some start coming back.  Don't know much about Lurkmore or any of that stuff.  But definitely share the highlights when you can - I'd be interested in reading them.

One about our wiki

Associated posts

Dude this is awesome.  And Frank spoke to a couple that are coming back shortly. This site isn't dead.  This is just an ebb, or flow, or something...

Yeah, I know. I ought to start posting more myself soon. Well, I suppose I should start sometime, but like I said on the other Skype thread, the timezones currently make it rather problematic.

I did make one yesterday, though I doubt I'll be using it much. I did rant a bit about the Last Jedi, under the thread formally devoted to this 3,5 year old article literally titled How criticism destroys enjoyment and how get past it. Thankfully, most everyone else also ripped into it with obvious counterpoints, but I think they all missed this gem of a judgement:

Shortly after that, I — and several friends — had the opportunity to test that. I think the movie was “Suspiria.” Or maybe it was some other godawful thing I wouldn’t have paid to see — but someone we knew had a bit part in it so we felt obligated to go see it. Knowing ahead of time that it was going to be an awful movie — something about vampires in a girl’s school, an excuse to have young women in almost-revealing lingerie running around and screaming about bats — I was the one yelling, “cut the strings!” — but, knowing ahead of time it was likely to be an awful film, we made up our minds to go and have a good time with a bad movie. This was before MST3K or “The Creeping Terror” or “Manos, Hands Of Fate.”

We had a good time. We knew it was a lousy movie. We could have spent the after-movie coffee-shop discussion picking it apart. Instead, we all agreed we’d had fun and instead of having a conversation rooting in negativity, we had a much more interesting and upbeat conversation. We got our six bucks worth of entertainment.
