If you turned this into going to Berkley that'd be awesome, Berkley's a great school for sure.

Dude - congrats.  Grew up in that neck of the woods.  You might want to bone up on your SJW terms, because you'll be in a sea of neckbeard faggot alt-left tree-huggers. But maybe you can enlighten them and bring them to a more centrist/libertarian perspective.  CHANGE THE WORLD!

Thanks, man. Given my constant insistence on being deliberately contrarian, I think it'll be a good fit.

Fair point.  If Blondie's pizza is still around, enjoy a slice for me!

I'm sorry, everyone, but I need to bitch. How the fuck can (at least) junior-level engineering students not understand simple concepts such as:
-mid-grade grammar
-in-text citations
-double-spaced
-APA format
-the concept of a "university-level source" (one guy actually cited forum posts)
-five page MAX?
-"I think/I feel" does not qualify as evidence
Yeah, these people not only did horrendous fucking work, they did it for about two more pages than they should have.

Fuck me, I want to beat my head against a wall

I donít plan on majoring in engineering but is APA all that common in college? My high schoolís only taught me MLA. The rest seem to be pretty obnoxious errors.

This is what happens when kids can pass every grade from K-8 without ever being challenged. When everyone's a winner during the formative years of their lives, they're never told that they really need to learn something. I can't tell you how many papers I've peer-edited that used "would of" instead of "would've."

Pretty much every non-English class I've taken uses either "informal" citations or APA. Technical papers are definitely APA. So yeah, it is pretty common for the STEM fields.

I'll give grammar/double-spaced being obnoxious errors, but relative to information, in-text citations allow a reader to know from line-to-line what is truly your work and what literature you drew from. Relative to technical papers, "I think/I feel" substituted for data will lead to automatic failure of your statement. That statement gives insight into the idea that you truly don't know what you're talking about.

There should definitely be more people who fail their English classes in the early years. Being a bit more critical during those formative years you're talking about would definitely yield better end results.

Finals week is killing me. I've got an 8 page essay due Wednesday, a 10 page essay due Friday, and final exams Wednesday and Thursday.

I feel you.  It's that time of the year when I realize that I'm not doing what I really want to be doing with my life.  I just don't like school.

If I can just skip over to Law school I would. There are so many needlessly useless classes that are mandatory to take that it just doesn't make any sense.

No, I just meant that I wish I were born rich or something.  Banging hot supermodels 24/7 and stuff...  I just don't like school, but I'm thousands in deep, so I have to finish.

I get out the week of the 25th. I have four AP exams coming up soon thatíll be the real hurdle since theyíre all the classes I have to do the most work for.

My Political Organization class, that requires getting up at 6 AM to arrive on time at 8:30, was cancelled for tomorrow. I still need to get up early, but man, savoring that extra hour of sleep is completely worth it.
