Title: Songs you hate the most

Preferably ah inescapable songs and not oddities you have to dig for. Which songs do you really despise?

Whatever Jed posts in the music threads

A lot of modern rap fits the list, particularly if it's one of those 'bragging about how good I've got it' songs.

I simply don't listen to musical genres that I expect to suck, but in other times, present day pop.

^THESE^

That "Whip" song has luckily faded into obscurity, but during the fall it was the bane of my existence.

I know you're mad at Andrew, but don't take it out on Jim Morrison.

Also, that Gotye song "Somebody That I Used to Know" is up there. Also Coldplay.

Then you simply are incapable of understanding the genius of Morrison's half-octave vocal range, sleepwalking stage presence, and drugged-out nonsense lyrics.

Actually one of the better Coldplay songs, which says a lot. You ever hear that one called Yellow? It's horrific.

If we're dissing Coldplay, I'll admit I was fine with them until Ghost Stories happened. That album was ass.

I've been part of school band in Australia for 3 years, and we've had to play that for like the last year and a half. It made Perry's Firework (which we also played) look good by comparison.

To be honest, I think the only song from there that I actually liked to listen normally was Linkin Park's "What I've Done". I actually got so used to hearing our version, with only female vocals, that I completely forgot the original sound of it for a while. I suppose "When September Ends" was also fine, and I could deal with Swift's "Love Story".

Very much true. Though, I mainly listened to Nightwish and Within Temptation at that time.

If you're interested, though, there's a rather interesting free game (http://rpgmaker.net/games/807/) called Iron Gaia. One of the notable things about it is that midi versions of instrumentals to Linkin Park and Metallica play there during dramatic moments (the moment when the protagonist gets his memory back, for instance, is set to "In the End" instrumental, while the final boss battle is set to Rammstein's "Engel".) Its storyline has a kind of Event Horizon vibe to it, and while some moments are pretty amateurish, it's actually quite interesting. It's also technically an RPG, but gameplay for the first half is closer to survival horror, since enemies drain health quickly and you'll often have to flee from stronger enemies.

I REALLY hate the Gummy Bear song. It followed me for an entire summer, it was the worst.

Also, reggaeton is the most popular (and annoying) genre in my country, so you can understand my suffering.

I can't stand most of Coldplay's early stuff, with the exception of a few songs like Clocks and Viva La Vida, which I find myself sometimes loving and sometimes hating. I personally love Ghost Stories, but I might owe a lot of that to the fact that it got me through a lot of extremely hard times around when it came out, so I contain some bias. Mylo Xyloto and A Head Full of Dreams I think are pretty meh albums overall, though they have their moments (Every Teardrop is a Waterfull is one of my all-time favorite songs).

Why did this diverge into a discussion about Coldplay? Feh. Anyway, I really hate Meghan Trainer. My hatred of her grew stronger after the slow dance at my junior prom was one of her songs.

Because the thread is about songs we hate, and Coldplay is ass on a stick... do I have to explain that?

Better than having a slow dance song be a country ballad.

I remember slow dancing to a break-up song my freshman or sophomore year. That was weird.

Nah.  Don't hide the fact.  These raps songs disappear after a few months of airplay.  You've been listening to it on the downlow.

It's not like Owl City or anything.  Those annoying ass white people pop songs are impossible to avoid.  Radio stations refuse to let them die.  With rap, most of these songs get 5 months airplay and then disappear for good.

Why?  These airless rap songs disappear.  They have a short lifespan.  And of all the songs, why did this one stick with you so long you remembered it out of the blue?

You love the song, don't you?  It's okay.  We don't judge.

On the plus side, if Kid Rock becomes Senator Kid Rock, he won't have time to make terrible music. I hate so much about this song. From rhyming "things" with "things" to referencing Alabama nonstop in a song about growing up in Northern Michigan to the obvious plagiarism of Werewolves of London to the fact that it's been completely INESCAPABLE for 10 years around these parts. Hate hate hate it.

"Don't be sarcastic."

"Isn't that what you said one time? Try to remember the times that were good?"

"I did?"
