Title: Tag
Post by: Charles Longboat Jr. on June 14, 2018, 12:42:28 am
This is that film that Tatum told us was partially based on his dad and his friends’ real life game of Tag. It’s currently at 50% on RT with 6 reviews (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/tag_2018) because the site is determined to take down anything the Trollfighters are associated with in any capacity. I trust we won’t let them win.

73% on 11 reviews now.  I'm seeing it this weekend - looks funny.  Hoping it breaks the string of bleh so-called comedies like Game Night and Book Club.  Even Cock Blockers, which was decent, didn't produce like I had hoped.

Russian release set for 28th of June. I wonder how many people will be in the same theater to see it. My brother could probably see this as well.

On account of this film’s significance to Oasis history I may be a bit biased, but I had fun with this film. It’s consistently humorous while retaining heart, and accurately portrays the potential for tactical complexity that tag can provide. Hannibal Buress was my favorite performance. Probably a B overall.

If you don't end up seeing this in theaters, you should be banned tbh.

Can anyone remind me which character was supposed to represent Tatum's dad?

For that matter, is anyone here still in touch with Tatum? It feels so weird when this movie was occasionally referenced for nearly five years but now that it's finally out, he's not present to celebrate with us, or to give the inside perspective on this adaptation.

I've been emailing him. Apparently there were originally ten guys, so each character is kind of a combo. His dad is mostly Hamm.

I suppose there were scenes he would have found to be “needlessly” mean spirited (https://letterboxd.com/johntyler/film/tag-2018/)...

Don't apologize for this statement. Did you see that landwhale tranny he was "attracted" to? If John hadn't left, the board of directors at JTMN would have removed him as CEO. He was clearly becoming mentally unstable.

^THIS.  It looked like a distorted, hybrid version of Goldblum 10 weeks into hormone shots.

Best comedy I have seen since The Night Before.  So much better than the play-it-safe comedies like Game Night and C0ck Blockers.  Somewhere in the 7.5-8 range.  So happy I saw this.

If you had John's life, you probably wouldn't have a sense of humor either.
