Sam Raimi to direct World War 3.

From the link:

China’s role as a world power will diminish; Mexico will become an important force on the geopolitical stage;

EDIT: Saw in the comments that the guy who wrote the book this is based on also predicted in the 90's a US-Japan Cold War that would've led to an actual war by 2012. Still, I wonder just Raimi can possibly do with such material.

Malek Akkad is still alive?  I thought he was the one who died with Moustapha in the Amman bombings.

Nope, Malek's still alive and well. He produced Rob Zombie's Halloween films, both made and released after the Amman bombings.
Everything is terrible.

Sylvester Stallone wins the Razzie Redeemer Award.
Well, at least Redmayne got his award. That is their annual ounce of credibility.

Lionsgate has announced that production has officially begun on Saban's Power Rangers with filming taking place in Vancouver.

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove, and the world, is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me & Earl & the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The Martian) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Love & Mercy) as Rita Repulsa.

Project Almanac's Dean Israelite directs from a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller & Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class), Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt), John Gatins (Real Steel, Flight, Kong: Skull Island), and Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra), based on characters created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy. Temple Hill's Marty Bowen & Wyck Godfrey, Brian Casentini, and Saban are producing the film, with Allison Shearmur and Brent O'Connor serving as executive producers.

Israelite will reteam with his Project Almanac D.P. Matthew J. Lloyd (Daredevil, Cop Car) and editor Martin Bernfeld (Piranha 3DD). Andrew Menzies (The Crazies, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) serves as production designer with Kelli Jones (Straight Outta Compton) handling costume designs. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron) will compose the film's musical score. Suit designs and visual effects work will be handled by WETA Digital (The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, Man of Steel).

Saban's Power Rangers will be released in theaters on March 24, 2017.
Everything is terrible.

Well, I rather approve of that new style. It's good that John now understands a solid wall of 10-20 links without nothing to draw attention to any of them typically means none will actually be read.

Nickelodeon gives the greenlight to a live-action made-for-TV film adaptation of their game show Legends of the Hidden Temple and a two-hour made-for-TV Hey, Arnold! film to be written by series creator Craig Bartlett.

Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, Man of Steel) joins Taraji P. Henson (Empire, The Karate Kid) and Octavia Spencer (The Help, Snowpiercer) in the space drama Hidden Figures, produced and directed by Theodore Melfi (St. Vincent) from a screenplay by Allison Schroeder (Mean Girls 2), based on the forthcoming book Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race written by Margot Lee Shatterly. Melfi will reunite with his St. Vincent producer Peter Chernin (Oblivion, Rise & Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

Nicole Scherzinger (Men in Black 3) joins ABC's upcoming three-hour Dirty Dancing musical remake, directed by Wayne Blair from a teleplay by Jessica Sharzer, based on the original motion picture screenplay written by executive producer Eleanor Bergstein, and starring Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Ender's Game), Debra Messing (Lucky You, Will & Grace), and Colt Prattes.

Sony's R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party will debut at SXSW. The film is directed by Greg Tiernan (Thomas the Tank Engine) and Conrad Vernon (Shark Tale, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted) from a screenplay by Seth Rogen (50/50, Neighbors), Evan Goldberg (The Interview, This is the End), Kyle Hunter & Ariel Shaffir (The Night Before). Rogen, Goldberg, Hunter, Shaffir, and Vernon also produce alongside Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, Spring Breakers) of Annapurna Pictures and Jonah Hill (21 Jump Street, Freaks of Nature). The film stars Rogen, Hill, James Franco (Pineapple Express, 127 Hours), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Edward Norton (The Incredible Hulk, Birdman), Michael Cera (Superbad, Youth in Revolt), David Krumholtz (10 Things I Hate About You, Harold & Kumar), Nick Kroll (Vacation, The League), Salma Hayek (From Dusk till Dawn, Desperado), Anders Holm (The Intern, How to Be Single), Bill Hader (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hot Rod), Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine, Knocked Up), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War), and Danny McBride (The Foot Fist Way, Your Highness).

Idris Elba (12 Years a Slave, Prometheus) and Matthew McConaughey (The Wolf of Wall Street, Dallas Buyers Club) officially sign on for Stephen King's The Dark Tower, directed by Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) from a screenplay co-written with Anders Thomas Jensen (The Salvation, Love is All You Need), Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend), and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The 5th Wave). Ron Howard (In the Heart of the Sea, The Da Vinci Code) and Brian Grazer (Angels & Demons, The Grinch) serve as producers.
