Bill and Ted 3 is officially happening.

I'm skeptical this will be any good.  While I loved the first Bill & Ted, the second one was pretty much ass.

Is Gaspar Noe a RACIST?!?!?!?

Spielberg and Leo DiCaprio join early talks for a Ulysses S. Grant biopic, the second film in Spielberg’s Reconstruction Era Cinematic Universe.

Skipping Andrew Johnson? For shame. I've always thought Steve Martin should play him.
Now that you mention it, an Andrew Johnson biopic could be an amusing satire in the right hands. On the other hand, critics would gush over it due to seeing parallels to Trump (partially balding, potentially prejudiced, and peoplewant to impeach him due to disagreeing with him politically), which might get old quickly.

Zack “the Hack” Snyder to adapt The Fountainhead

Snyder is the Peter Keating of filmmaking. I may actually have to assassinate him before this is made.

Luc Besson is accused of rape in a move Neville calls “God’s punishment for Valerian”.

He's recently done something that's apparently even worse than Valerian: he released Taxi 5. The Taxi movies are basically a French action comedy franchise about a loser policeman with even less competent and eccentric boss, who rely on a hypercompetent taxist who's converted his cab into a sub-Bond racecar. It's been more than a decade since I last watched them, so I can't comment on their quality. Nevertheless, they are absolutely cult in Russia, like many other modern French comedies that are practically unknown in the Anglosphere. So, it's unsurprising he tried to make yet another unnecessary sequel to get out of EuropaCorp's deserved troubles, and just tarnished the original's memory instead, with the film now being rated as worst of the year here.

I just noticed that they rated the newest Asghar Farhadi film lower than the last Fofty Shades film. I’m starting to get concerned about that film’s quality.

Well, the (thankfully final?) Shades film had 21 reviews, while his has only 10 so far, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, only one of those is actually positive. Though, some of it is to do with a certain context: here, Brazilian soap operas were enormously prominent here in the 80s (when Escrava (slave) Isaura became the first soap opera anyone's seen,  and the 90s, when the other South American productions followed in its stead.

Now, those have been largely replaced with the Turkish soap operas: I remember one in 2015, Kurt Seit and Alexandra, about the Crimean Tatar and a Russian countess in love, who escape revolutionary Russia for Turkey, alongside Seit's Russian officer friend and romantic rival who soon betrays him and begins secretly cooperating with the most evil characters - the British officers occupying Constantinople at the time, while Greek armies roamed in the countryside. (before Ataturk chased them out, alongside the entire Greek population.) Another one, "East West", is a joint Russo-Turkish production and is already in its second season.

Anyway, the point is that for most of these reviewers, his film feels far too overfamiliar to all those soaps, and its Spanish setting and cast only raised the similarity. One went through all the tropes and sarcastically noted "At least no-one got switched at birth here."

In other news, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom gets a chilly reception from critics and a worse one from the (6) members of audience. On the other hand, though, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, gets far better reception here than in the West, for some reason.
