Question about James Blunt's "You're Beautiful"
« on: April 26, 2016, 02:55:47 pm »
In the song, he has the lyric "But I won't lose no sleep on that/'Cause I've got a plan" but yet, we never see this plan of his unfold.  Because that line leads into the chorus where he screams "You're Beautiful."

And then the end of the chorus says "I don't know what to do/I'll never be with you", which doesn't make sense since in he said he won't lose any sleep because he had a plan.  However, I've taken into account other possibilities.   The end of the music video shows him committing suicide and he never stated that his plan was to get back with his girlfriend,  so maybe the plan referred to how he's going to ease his pain.

Yet the song itself doesn't indicate that he kills himself, only the video.  So out of context with the video, the line makes no sense.  Because it sounds as if he's trying to come to terms with the fact that he'll never be with this girl again, not suicide.

The other theory would be that his plan WAS to scream "You're Beautiful...etc."  and the chorus was him pleading to his love to take him back, but in the end when he says "But it's time to face the truth:  I will never be with you" is when he realizes she's moved on.

Either way, I've thought too deeply into this one lyric.

But can someone help me understand it?
goodbye!

Please... Neville?   Diego?  Tatum? Anyone?

I'll even take a somewhat off topic Catbus joke.

You'll take what I give you.

But while I'm not familiar with the song, I'm guessing since the lyric is not followed up that he doesn't do anything. People are scared of the folks they love (especially early in life) and would rather dream of could haves than deal with a concrete no.

Weird Al Yankovic's cover is pretty neat too.

Hmmm... I don't know why that didn't cross my mind.  But it makes perfect sense.  You're a wise man.
