That's true.  The current #1 song on Billboard is actually a decent song (See You Again).
I agree that there is some good modern music, but often times those groups don't break into the mainstream.

Also, See You Again is followed by the likes of Earned It, GDFR, Sugar, and Thinking Out Loud in the top ten.
Personally, I don't mind Thinking Out Loud. Either way though, the top of the charts are just a few songs that hardly encompass all modern music. Catbus raises an excellent point as well, most of us weren't around years ago and didn't hear all the music that came out, we just listen to what's become well known as great (mostly, of course that isn't completely true, but still, you see my point).

I see your point. If you want, I can also make a thread for talking about good modern groups or something like that.

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

The Decline of Modern Music would be a cool name for a band.

I wouldn't know because I don't listen to music. Such a trivial and mundane thing to do.

This made me chuckle. I don't know why, because I've only heard whatever songs of theirs appeared in Shrek.

I've finally found two songs that sort of justify this thread's existence.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T59kB3hq3Yg
Probably Maroon 5's worst to date. Worse than Animals.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV2uebhnqOw
This may or may not be worse. *Shudders*
Also, I call dibs on the potential band name "The Decline of Modern Music" unless someone has called dibs prior to me.

Are you reacting to my perceived quality of the songs or something else?

Your "perceived quality?" Lol I don't think that makes any sense but I was reacting to how bad those songs are. I'm not sure if I ever heard worse music.

Again, I can't say I hate that Maroon 5 song.  I've always had a MAJOR soft spot for Maroon 5.

Pretty Girls, however, has absolutely no beat, it sounds off, and Britney and Iggy are basically walking autotune machines, so it sucked.

I've liked Maroon 5's first couple of albums since my childhood, but this song is a massive comedown. The lyrics are nigh incoherent and they rip off Jeremih of all people. It also repeats that hilariously awful songwriting technique from Animals in which they repeat the last syllable or two in a word in the chorus. Levine's autotune is quite blatant as well.

Simply put, this is Maroon 5's worst song, and one of the worst I've ever heard.
