Figured I'd create the next thread.

Anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO_84C3fpuI

Is it bad that I'm getting into 80's Metallica?

Was going through old posts on the "favorite bands" thread, and Catbus reminded me of these guys. Hadn't heard them in years.

I hate Wilder Mind. Listening to that album made me profoundly bored and mildly horrified at how badly M&S sold out.

If by "sold out" you mean trading in their banjo for an electric guitar and actually pushing the boundaries of their folk/alt rock sound, then you're about right. Wilder Mind is their only album I think is legitimately great. Can't get into any of their other stuff at all.

You have the worst taste in music.  And also, yeah, just admit it.  You're gay.

Electric guitar > banjo.

I'd be fine with them having an electric guitar if they played it with actual soul. Every song sounds like overly polished, generic indie trash, and the actual guitar segments aren't even very memorable anyway. Most tracks are in very similar keys and sound alarmingly close to each other, and there's very little variation on drums or vocals either. If given the choice between listening to the album again or sitting through a Hillary Clinton speech, I'd have to think very hard about it because they are on par in terms of providing soul crushing boredom. It's as if they converted milk into sound when they recorded Wilder Mind.
