1 - Captain America: The First Avenger:  7.5/10

Although I was never a huge fan of the character Captain America, this was a good origin story with a strong cast and a good mix of action and info.  More serious than some of the campier future MCU films (GOTG, Ragnarok, etc), but isn't bogged down with overseriousness.  Agent Smith/Elrond played an excellent villain - one of the better villains we will see in the MCU movies.  Great to see some Howard Stark moments, and having the timeline jump with the opening sequence being after the bulk of the film followed by Nick Fury's "production" had a nice flow to it.  One of the better MCU films.

Next up...Iron Man...

Still one of my preferred Marvel films honestly, haven't seen it in a minute but I really liked it when it came out. Admittedly, my tastes have changed a lot since the last time I watched it, but I imagine I'd still enjoy it.

This is going to be an interesting exercise.  About half of these MCU films I've only seen once.  So on 2nd viewing I'll be anxious to see how much my tastes have changed.  Films like GOTG 1 & 2, Iron Man, and Dr. Strange I've seen enough to where the needle won't move at all.  But most of the others will probably shift a little.

I haven't seen any films in the past minute and I'm still able to judge a lot of them pretty accurately.

Iron Man was an 8.5/10.  Will post more when I get to a computer.  Formatting from my phone sucks.

It's funny. Im actually taking a few notes of when certain artifacts appear, when new characters appear, and what each end scene after credits is about.  Trying to see how and when everything ties in together.

I'm sure they crossed their Xs and Ts when it came to that. MCU was planned methodically, unlike the DC counterpart.

DC is the literal equivalent of throwing shit against a wall to see if it sticks.

2 - Iron Man:  8.5/10

The one that started it all.  First off, superb job of casting with Robert Downey Jr playing a natural role as an arrogant, but brilliant weapons mogul.  The story clips along at a very good pace with nice transitions from present to past and back to present early in the film.  The technology aspect in Stark's man cave is fascinating, as are the scenes depicting the creation of both Iron Man suits.  The chemistry between Stark and Pepper Potts (Paltrow) is strong, though Jeff Bridges' role as the "bad guy" is just okay.  The ending sequence of Iron Man fighting Iron Man is a bit anti-climatic, and the inability of Bridges' Iron Man to hit a stationary Stark just a few feet away is a bit lame (even without his targeting system working).  Overall, a very good film that really kick-started the MCU universe in a great way.

Iron Man is still the best MCU film as far as Iím concerned. I like how it tackles political issues without being overbearing.

Yeah I remember you saying that.  I just saw it once but wasn't overly impressed - but that was a while ago, so we'll see...

Yeah love Edward Norton - but didn't he even hate that film so much he shot his way out of his commitment to Bruce Banner going forward?
