Oscar Isaac confirmed to appear in Star Wars VIII!

That dude's a great actor.  He's due for an Oscar (no pun intended) in the near future.

He should have been nominated for Inside Llewyn Davis.

Completely agree. Hopefully his involvement in Star Wars and X-Men will turn him into the A-list star he deserves to be.

I agree with this.

Holy crap guys...

David Fincher[21] and Brad Bird were approached as directors, but Bird was committed to Tomorrowland.[22] Guillermo del Toro was also considered, but was busy with his own projects.[23]

Our lord Fincher... could have directed Star Wars 7.

I heard about Brad Bird passing it over. That said, I'm curious as to what David Fincher's Star Wars would look like.

I honestly think it wouldn't have happened even if he accepted. He probably would have wanted to make it R and ultra dark. Plus, he's not real savvy with companies and corporations as evidenced by his struggles with the Spiderman film rights, and Alien 3.

True. What I meant to say was that if he had complete creative control of Star Wars, it would be interesting.

It's no secret around here that I love Fincher, but he's totally wrong for Star Wars. It's good he turned it down, or whatever happened. He was actually in talks with Disney to direct a new 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

I remember watching some of that when I was younger...

A David Fincher Star Wars film would be interesting to see, but I don't think he's the right choice. Brad Bird was too busy, but I think he would've done an amazing job. Del Toro though.....probably not a good idea. I love the guy, but he's just not right for the franchise.

In the end, I'm happy with JJ being the director. As long as he tones down the fan-service, it should be great.

He needs to avoid pulling an Wrath of Khan (2013) ending, too.

Interesting, but there's only one sci-fi franchise I'd want Del Toro at the helm of right now, and that's Transformers.

I am curious as to how Del Toro would've done The Hobbit...if he did do those movies it would cost my friend his favorite film of all time...
