S. Korea prez says Trump should get Nobel Peace Prize...
« on: April 30, 2018, 05:20:06 pm »
...I'd be really torn on this.  On one hand, I worship chaos at times and absolutely love the idea of liberals losing their collective minds and conducting mass-suicides if this were to happen.  On the other hand, this would effectively negate any credibility the award has and any future recipients of the award would suffer from its insignificance.

Two thoughts:

1) The South Korean president knows damn well that the best way to get what he wants from Trump is to stroke his fat fucking ego.
2) If this works out, and Trump is an integral part of it, and he doesn't win the Nobel Peace prize, it'll be proof that the system is rigged. I mean, come on. Obama won for saying nice things.

Of course it would be dumb.  But funny and dumb are not mutually exclusive.

1-Yes, I think that's the case.  Though admittedly I don't know a whole lot about the South Korean president and I don't know how manipulative he is.

2-But Trump winning the Nobel PEACE Prize is just the funniest thing I can think of.  Equating Trump and "peace" after everything he has said and done is something so outlandishly funny that I would have a difficult time watching a movie that proposed such an idea because of the incredibly low believability factor.

I think that objectively, Peace Prize should go to Moon himself. He's the one who has been consistently advocating this for decades, even when it wasn't popular at all. However, saying "I should get it" is obviously a bad look in itself, regafdless of how valid it is. And like Diego said, it's far more effective right now to encourage Trump through such statements.

In fact, I wager the Nobel Committee is thinking along the same lines, and he'll probably get it. It MIGHT be a joint prize with Trump (though in that case, you shouldn't be surprised if Kim Jong Un also gets it - similar to how Arafat got one alongside soon-assassinated Rabin on the Israeli side.) If it does happen...eh, I still do not see it being any worse then when Kissinger got one.

Objectively, I am not even sure if Trump's actual death toll is all that much higher then Obama's was at this point of his presidency. Sure, I heard he drones even more people now, but the stunts he's most known for - two Syria strikes, and MOAB, have only killed like a fraction of what the daily grind of Iraq/Afghan "peacekeeping" and drones elsewhere in the Islamic world killed under both presidents. If anything, the Mosul campaign, where a lot more civilians died then when we and SAR restored order to Aleppo, probably accounts for the greatest difference in death toll between the two. Whether that difference is enough to disqualify one from the Peace Prize is a separate argument, one that seems shaky either way.

Honestly it'd be kinda hilarious if this happened. That said, Moon himself would be a good pick.

If KJU AND DJT get a joint-PEACE prize, I think the world might implode...or explode...or both.  The anger from the far-left and many of the other countries would cast a shadow on this Earth that would last 1,000 years.  And I would relish in the misery and mass-suicides that would undoubtedly follow.

Being upset at Kim Jong Un getting it is really reasonable though, that guy has put an unbelievable amount of his own people into forced labor camps, used public executions to maintain loyalty, etc. In no way should he get any sort of peace prize under any circumstances.

I'm not saying at all that it's unreasonable in any way, shape, or form.  But I would still find many of the reactions really, really funny.
