Holy shit Donny, do it! I've had Rosenstein since January!

Honestly, I no longer care much about this particular soap opera. I am more interested in the Kavanaugh thing, and the...recent developments associated with it. Thoughts on that, anyone?

I don't believe her. I've tried to be nice about this, but I'm done. The obviousness of the political timing, coupled with the fact that no one can corroborate her story, makes it easily dismissable. Even if it's true, why bother making the accusation with literally no proof?

Well, in your country at least, you happen to be in the minority on this one: even Fox News poll found that more people believe her than him.

Everything to do with this nomination is pretty morally murky, really. On paper, the idea of an experienced judge serving out decades with an exemplary record, and being rewarded for it with a nomination to the highest court, through a likely recommendation of his predecessor, is an appealing one, regardless of who the president is. You have probably all seen the argument that RBG and Breyer were overwhelmingly confirmed and received many Republican votes in spite of their clear ideology, so the hostility towards him is historically abnormal.

Then again, the same argument was also made for Hillary ("most qualified candidate in history", remember?), so in a way, it can be pretty ironic for some supposed centrists on either side to support one but not the other. And in both cases, the appeal of each just melts away the closer you look at them in life. Again, I was comparatively sympathetic towards him, but you have to admit, this robotic interview does him no favours:

To be fair, an average, innocent person may not have done much better if hit with something like this two weeks before potentially getting his dream job. On the other hand, a future SCOTUS justice is not meant to be an average person either.

Though, I do wonder what happens if he were to get hypothetically rejected. I mean, even Vox, of all places, says that the Senate map is horrible for Democrats (20 seats to defend vs. 6), and several of them are in bad place already, and will be in an even worse one if they reject Kavanaugh. If GOP ends up picking up Senate seats, what's to stop Trump nominating Amy Coney Barrett (there's no way there'll be an accusation against her, right?) and then see Roe vs. Wade overturned for sure?
