OK, holy shit:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psp7JJoKb7o

You know, I used to think that at least the Manchin guy from West Virginia was going to vote for him out of all the Dems (since he now regrets endorsing Hillary, etc.). There's no way I can see that now. I am not even talking about the accusations - the way he's now openly blaming the Clintons and "millions of dollars from left-wing groups" seems ridiculously partisan for a person hoping to occupy this position. Moreover, he should be the last person to complain about this, since just about everything he said in the video above  applies equally to Starr's efforts against Clinton he took part in.

Really, this utterly demolishes the whole bipartisanship argument advanced on Quora by John Cate and even a few liberals. All those column inches about his experience and judicial philosophy and what not that I stupidly read when I tried making an effort to be more "balanced" a while ago (for what now seems no discernible reason) look so hollow now. Not even the argument that someone worse like Mike Lee could have been nominated (and might be nominated in his place) seems particularly weighty any more. This whole performance was close to something I would expect from the wilder Duma members, though even they would probably not talk about beer so much.
