^Shit yo, that man's seen some films...

I wonder if his dad owns a movie theater.

I finally saw Citizen Kane and thought it was excellent. It's hard to believe just how much influence it has in terms of narrative structure and visual flair, and all this coming from a debut film, no less. I haven't settled on a rating yet though this may very well be in my top thirty or forty of all time.

My school's film club rented out a theater screen, so I got to see Psycho for the first time. Luke Citizen Kane this is a film whose most famous moments have been spoiled by widespread cultural awareness, so it was good to see that the set-up to those moments was quite compelling. Some moments are a product of their time but for the most part the film maintained considerable tension, and the performances were solid all around.

Going with a B+/A- for this one. I'm planning on potentially checking out Rear Window and Vertigo next from Hitchcock.

On the Waterfront was a powerful cinematic experience buoyed by its dynamic script and cast. It goes without saying that Brando gives a performance for the books, and I found the characters to all be compelling despite the ensemble’s relative size. It had a bit of a slow start at first but by the 35 minute mark I was essentially completely hooked. Not settled on a score yet.
