If me as a 14 year old could understand The Witch, then a 50 year old sure as hell can.

Dylan was alive back when people talked like this. He's got no excuse.

Bullshit.  I was born long before and went into hibernation during the period of witches.

I enjoyed this film. There’s some particularly impressive performances on display from Krasinski and Blunt (shout out to Simmonds too) and it’s consistently tense even when jump scares mitigate the experience. I thought it balanced thrills and drama pretty well. Probably a B.

Are there any horror films you've liked more in the last 3 or 4 years?  Just curious.
I’ve admittedly missed out on some of the more notable acclaimed horror releases (primarily It Follows and The Babadook) but I enjoyed Get Out and It Comes at Night (I know the latter is particularly divisive but I think its aesthetic is better and also ends stronger than A Quiet Place). The Witch is obviously up there too, given that it’s a top five film of 2016.

Yeah, I don't see how someone could speak English and not understand The Witch...I found it easier to understand than most British films.

I mean, enough people had that exact problem - so not sure how you don't see how.  It's not something that like one or two people had an issue with.  I know plenty personally, and there are a lot that talk about it on the internet.  So, it's a thing.

Here's another one.  CinemaSins mentions it like 4 times in its review:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI-aTycmzbo

Cinemasins is a garbage critic anyways.

And you understand Shakespeare man, that language is way harder than the old english spoken in The Witch. I am definitely certain on that.

1-Again, stay on track. Wasn't referencing critic ability. Just pointing out your baseless claim that nobody other than me had an issue understanding what was being said.

2-To paraphrase Jake.  I understand Shakespeare perfectly.  I can't possibly understand how it's even conceivable someone wouldn't understand Shakespeare, since I do.

Woah woah woah, old man relax that senility down man. Never did I ever make a "baseless claim" that said nobody other than you had a problem with the language? I just said people are dumb in general and don't pay attention to films as much as people like us. Of course there are people who aren't gonna understand The Witch, that's practically unavoidable when you make a film like that. I was just pointing out that there was an overwhelming amount of praise in the reddit thread compared to the comments that said they couldn't understand some of it and even then they STILL enjoyed the film. And there were very few comments about not understanding the language spoken, I only saw 3 from what I skimmed.

And now you're saying you can't conceivably see how people can't understand Shakespeare since you do? Doesn't that directly contradict your first point there? You of all people should see why people can't understand Shakespeare. It's an extremely descriptive and flowery type of English that takes its time, rather than what we're used to now which is a language that gets directly to the point. I mean it's a bit hypocritical honestly.

1-You intimated it with your first post.

2-That was a sarcastic jab at Bread's previous comment.  Obviously I don't believe that.

1- Ah nah that's not what I really meant, sorry if it came across that way.

2- And yeah I missed that, sarcasm and text aren't the best pairings.

1-No worries

2-I tried to qualify it by mentioning Jake, but it still might not have been clear.  No worries again.

My favorite youtube critic hated A Quiet Place and honestly he brings up some solid arguments. Still like the film myself though.

Because you follow YMS and you know everything about film and research it. You probably knew about his IMDB. I mean if I knew about it, so did you because you definitely know how to find out more information than I do.

I only follow YMS for his video content, and I only go on IMDb for trivia and such.

Also, I knew from a few of his videos that he has an IMDb but I don't have an account on IMDb. I did before, but I never followed anyone on there. Never once have I ever clicked on his IMDb profile.

Also, please fuck off with this "you know all about this, so you must know about that" mentality. It's fucking stupid and I'm tired of it. I may know a lot of things, but I don't know literally everything.

So you're insulted by the fact that someone is assuming you have a lot of knowledge?
I figured that you would appreciate the compliment considering that you're actually dumb as hell.
