2.5/10

The only thing that saved this movie from a 0 or 1 was Taraji Henson's portrayal of a psycho woman who is driven to madness by, in her mind, her husband.  The story was absurd - especially the 2nd offer from the company and the entire final act.  The pacing dragged heavily in the middle hour.  It really should have been a 90 minute film instead of 120 minutes.  Once again, Tyler Perry proves he is one of the worst directors out there.  There were some unintentionally laughable moments (acid on the wedding dress, etc), but it wasn't enough to come close to saving this disaster.

Yeah, Taraji P. Henson's performance is the only thing keeping this from entering the point of no return. She's really giving it her all and is clearly committed to the role one-hundred percent, and for that, I give her a lot of credit. But one good performance can only do so much. All the other actors are absolutely nothing special, the editing is utterly atrocious, and the script is equal parts laughably terrible and exhaustingly melodramatic. Henson's character complains about how whenever a black woman screams that person is made out to be a stereotype and yet throughout much of the movie, she's that exact stereotype she complains about. She's too one-dimensional to be interesting or taken seriously. Not to mention, the portrayal of mental illness is fundamentally ill-conceived and jaw-droppingly misguided -- which I suppose makes sense seeing as Tyler Perry understands that subject matter about as well as he understands women. It's such an absurdly boring film, so inept in nearly every department that it's just embarrassing to watch.
Everything is terrible.

Sneaking on the boat while wearing that wedding dress was laugh out loud horrible writing.  I mean, it was way beyond unbelievable.  It was insulting.
