Ghostbusters
« on: June 20, 2016, 06:56:40 pm »
Also known as:
- "Feigbusters"
- "Shitbusters"
- "Ghostfuckers"
- "Pixels (Now w/Ghosts!)"

Comes out on July 15th. I think we can all agree this looks a rotten, steaming, sun-baked, oozing shit.

Has Melissa McCarthy done anything noteworthy?  Other than Central Intelligence of course.

Meh. Just looks like a bland comedy. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm yet to dislike anything from Feig though, so I'll probably give this a chance someday. Definitely won't see it in theaters unless it gets good reviews.

If it's as bad as it looks, I wonder if Leslie Jones will be able to find any work after this. I mean, others all have a decent-sized filmography that'll let them absorb the impact, but she's basically a newcomer to cinema as far as I'm aware. Right now, it looks like the movies reviewed at NTS are going to feature a new face a year or two from now.

Well this came out yesterday. Probably just going to be end credits or something. Still not a great sign.

Well, this is the first Feig's Ghostbusters video I've seen that has more likes then dislikes (46,000 vs 40,000). Not sure if it stays that way, but that probably counts for something.

Well, it's more or less on par with the Suicide Squad soundtrack. Not a compliment, but...

A troll thread I made for RT that will, because of the admins, likely never see the light of day.

“Any true liberal or feminist will see this instead of Independence Day 2”

My fellow intellectual elite understand that the Ghostbusters remake is not so much an exercise in "filmmaking," "good writing," or "comedy" as it is a statement against Trumpism and Republicanism. The Republicans want you to go see a dumb fun blockbuster that will further saturate your minds with pro-American propaganda and Michael Bay-esque explosions. It is so offensive to me-- as I'm sure it is to angry college students everywhere-- that a studio would even think to release such a film without even an obvious ulterior motive or message to hammer over our heads. Independence Day 2 does nothing for our glorious PC culture, and therefore every copy of it should be destroyed.

Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters remake has received undue criticism from the mainstream right-wing media, simply because the leads are female. It clearly has nothing to do with the lack of creativity in Hollywood, or that this is a blatant example of manipulating audiences into defending a film that has not yet been released. People need to wake up and realize that artistically bankrupt pandering is exactly what it takes for PC culture to thrive. As soon as Hollywood starts coming up with "new ideas," those new ideas might disagree with the Tumblr-approved Code of Political Correctness (CPC). And that will simply not stand.

And even ignoring these indisputable facts, the quality of both films is apparent from the trailers. How could a hack like Jeff Goldblum ever go to toe-to-toe with the hefty comedic weight of Melissa McCarthy? Ridiculous. The special effects are also spectacular-- how many times have you said to yourself "I wish movies these days looked like they were rendered by a video game made in 2002?" I know I've thought that dozens of times. "Oh, but Diego," you say, "What about the obvious racially-charged humor in the trailer? Does that not clash with PC culture?" To which I say, of course not. Racism is excusable when serving a just cause, such as feminism. You need to read up on the CPC.

It sickens me that you privileged white males would dare to criticize this glorious film before it is even released. What kind of idiot formulates an opinion about such a fantastic, progressive, and hilarious movie before they've gotten a chance to actually see it? Ludicrous. The only way for women to be equal to men is to take roles that shoddily adapt characters previously played by males. Only through this will society truly be equal-- forget about creating more intelligent, well-written, and original female characters in other franchises. That is counter-productive.

If you have made disparaging comments about this movie, I will be accepting your apologies in this thread. Repent, for you cannot stop the PC train. Choo-choo, motherfuckers.

Speaking of Independence Day: I can't be the only one thinking that the fact it was released on the day of the referendum might've had swayed the vote somewhat by sending the less motivated to the cinemas instead? That was definitely the first thing I've thought when I saw the release date. Though, it's probably more likely that Brexiters went to see it after voting for their own Independence Day.
