When it's warranted is a purely subjective definition.

Diego, I don't think you realize this, but It is 1,153 pages long.  It's split into two sections, one with them as kids and one with them as adults.  You'd be stupid to not make it a two-parter.

More or less, this is Diego just speaking on something he has no clue about just for the sake of getting on Caleb.

Clearly a joke. I can sympathize with him, given that my sarcasm tends to soar over the heads of certain people on this site.

A joke that holds absolutely zero weight in the context of the film.  If there was a scene like that, sure, the joke would make sense, but the film doesn't even attempt to portray it.

I get that you have to chase every new user we get off the site. It's in your blood. But if we don't retain new users, this site will die, permanently. And then what will you use as an outlet for your musings on gay sex and foreskin? Think about it.

The last "new" user we had on this site was Aaron, and I'm glad we ran him off again.

This is the first one book into two movies split that I can get behind. Any comparisons to Harry Potter, The Hobbit, or The Hungry Games are ridiculous if you've actually read the source material. It is entirely justified and is not a matter of milking you for an extra ticket.

And one of the many failings of the miniseries was trying to cram too much into 3 hours and keeping the book's narrative structure. If they didn't alter it like they did for the movie (kid part first, adult part in the sequel), the movie would have been like that too.

This movie was pretty fucking insane.

Never read the source material nor have I seen the original, but damn this film didn't mess around.

3 dumbest things in that rant:

3: "Every 10 minutes there was an insidious style jump". It really didn't have that many jump scares, and the one I distinctly recall was really effective (Pennywise in the bathroom had a lot of the theater screaming).

Classic Caleb jumping on the bandwagon. Now, I should note that I haven't seen the film, but all of my friends who have seen it had the same complaint. Even the guys from RLM said this, and Jay complained about the loud noise that played every time the clown jumped out. You can disagree, but this seems to be a fairly common grievance people had with the movie.

2. "Ya'll don't like movies being split up for the sake of the studio wringing two tickets out of you? Bullshit, people clapped when Chapter One appeared on screen in the sold out auditorium I was in". Yeah, no one complains about this in cases when it's warranted. It was fine for Harry Potter 7, and it's fine for this because there's so much story to tell. As Cutler said, it's only a problem when they clearly have to stretch the existing material to make more movies and more money (Hunger Games, Allegiant, Hobbit).

When it's warranted is a purely subjective definition. I personally thought that splitting the last HP film into two parts was stupid and pointless, especially if you're going to condense book 5 (the longest book) into the shortest movie. They clearly didn't want the cash cow that was Harry Potter to die, so they milked it for all it was worth.

And number one..."Enjoy your child gangbang with Beverly you sick fucks". So as everyone in the world knows, this wasn't actually in the movie. But yeah, just pull the classic "it was a joke" after you get called out for saying some stupid shit.

Clearly a joke. I can sympathize with him, given that my sarcasm tends to soar over the heads of certain people on this site.
1. Maybe other people thought there were more jump scares, but at least from my perspective they were pretty limited and while I haven't seen most recent horror movies, I can confidently say that It had far fewer than something like Insidious 2. Also, idk if I'm known for bandwagoning or whatever, but only Cutler had commented before me.

2. I'd accept the argument that splitting Harry Potter 7 into 2 parts was unwarranted (personally I thought it was a good decision from a narrative perspective, although the final part was underwhelming for me). However, if you see this movie I don't think there's any way you can really say there isn't enough story here to fill up a feature length film.

3. Yeah, he was probably joking but if so it wasn't funny at all and made no sense so it should be called out either way.
