I really, really wanted this to be good. The plot of the books is fascinating, but I'm not surprised a single film couldn't support all the mythology. TV would be much better suited for a story with its scope.

Just got back from this and it was a fucking travesty. By far the biggest letdown of the year.

RT Consensus: "Go then, there are other Stephen King adaptations than these."

I'm not making that up. That's the actual consensus.

Oh dear...

So, the review embargo won't be lifted until the release day, right? I think I'm going to go with 18% Tomatometer for this one.

Neville nailed it (for now). Though this was pretty much exactly my prediction as well. Any chance it'll even make it to the low 30s at this rate?

Still at 18%, with 128 reviews in. Damn, I'm getting good at this.

Also, just checked its B.O., and apparently half of its current foreign grosses came from us alone. Isn't too surprising, given that this particular series was apparently pretty big here in the 90s: I've seen a lot more pre-release discussion of it on Runet than the English websites. (not that our critics were any kinder to it.)
