The Glass Castle
« on: June 27, 2017, 04:13:53 pm »
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay co-written with Andrew Lanham and Marti Noxon, the adaptation of Jeannette Walls' 2005 memoir of the same name stars Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, Max Greenfield, Sarah Snook, and Naomi Watts. A young girl comes of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads with a mother who's an eccentric artist and an alcoholic father who would stir the children's imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty.

I don't feel anything anymore. I am devoid of a soul or spirit. I am nothing.

How about we don't make threads for movies no one gives a shit about? Obviously doesn't apply to everything there, but you have no idea how tempted I was to delete the Wish Upon and Girls Trip threads.

Who knows, maybe Girls Trip will prompt a 5 page argument discussing the artistic merits of such a transcendent film.
Goodbye!

This film looks somewhat unremarkable but I do like the central cast members. If the reviews are good I'd be open to renting it.

RT Consensus: "The Glass Castle has an affecting real-life story and a hard-working cast in its corner, but they aren't enough to outweigh a fundamentally misguided approach to the material."
Everything is terrible.
