I'm thinking the Best Picture nominees are:

A Star is Born
Roma
If Beale Street Could Talk
The Favourite
Vice
Green Book
Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Black Panther
First Man
BlacKkKlansman
Goodbye!

I agree with all except CYEFM? and maybe First Man. I havenít seen much enthusiasm for the former outside of the lead actors (I do think itíll pull a screenplay nom though), and First Manís lackluster box office performance is probably going to make it go the way of Blade Runner 2049, where nearly all its nominations are technical. It still might have a chance if other awards groups show some love but Iím not sure. Same applies to Widows, sadly.

I myself am predicting these so far:
A Star is Born
Roma
Green Boom
The Favourite
If Beale Street Could Talk
Vice
Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman
Mary Poppins Returns

The tenth spot, if filled, could go to either First Man or Widows if thereís some support for it. Alternatively, First Reformed or Eighth Grade could (which, given their strong early showing, might very well be the case).

Driving Dr. Shirley wins Best Film at the 2018 National Board of Review, while A Star is Born and Beale Street get boosts

Results of the New York Film Critics Circle Awards

I was getting more and more confident in First Reformedís chances until just now, because apparently Paul Schrader said some stuff about Kevin Spacey that might end up torpedoing the filmís chances. I hope Iím wrong.

2018 Satellite Awards nominations, in which they nominate just about everything in Awards contention somewhere.

Vice has been getting mixed reviews on Letterboxd.  I think it'll get acting nominations but I'm less convinced in it getting a Best Picture nom.  I'm replacing it in my predictions in favor of Widows.

If Vice isn't amazing I'm gonna be really sad, that and The Front Runner were the films I was most looking forward to for the rest of the year and the latter already didn't do so well critically.

That being said, I'd be surprised if Widows wasn't nominated regardless of how Vice does critically.

I think Vice may still have a decent shot at a Best Picture nomination, but its polarized response isnít doing it any favors. Itís still making more inroads than Widows has in a lot of early awards thus far, so I think itís still more likely to get a nomination.

Yeah, itíd be a shame given how promising the trailer made it look. Hopefully it wasnít just a great trailer for a mediocre film.

A Quiet Place, First Reformed, and Eighth Grade are all picking up significantly more traction than I expected.  I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 of them got a nomination, or were heavily recognized in some way.

The other 2018 AFI picks, for posterity

Golden Globes nominations

It seems Vice may have more in the tank than we thought. I guess Peter Farrelly is a legitimate threat in the director category too. Of course that just may be the classic Globes iconoclasm.

Bohemian Rhapsody getting nominated at the Globes is ugh.  Green Book as well, but I expected that to get nominated with all the other awards it's been winning.

I ended up having a hunch that Bohemian Rhapsody would make it, since the HFPA loves their British figure biopics. Is Rami Malek worth the hype, though?

Chicago Critics Circle nominations demonstrate astoundingly good taste

Seriously, thereís a lot to like here. First Reformed getting BP, Best Director, and Screenplay noms is pretty cool, as is their actually throwing a bone to Johan Johannsson, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood in the Score section, The Death of Stalin in the Adapted Screenplay category, and some love for Toni Collette, Joaquin Phoenix, and Elizabeth Debicki. Some very inspired nominations.

San Francisco Film Critics snub Bradley Cooper in Best Actor(!) among other developments

San Diego Film Critics think Rami Malek is only now a breakout, even though Mr. Robot was pretty popular a few years back. Also, they like A Quiet Place and Leave No Trace more than just about any other awards organization thus far.

The Award U Give to The Hate U Give is Best Picture, according to the LA Online Film Critics Awards. I apologize for that pun.

Props to them for awarding Toni Collette and Alex Wolff, though.
