I had this idea for a film that I originally talked about back in 2013 on RT (I think it was on the Robot Jox forums, I could be wrong though). Basically, it's about a man who tries to reconnect with his ex-girlfriend using a sudden magical box that serves as an intentional deus ex machina whenever problems arise, basically doing whatever solves these issues the quickest and the best.

The ideal title would be Deus Ex-Girlfriend Machina.

So...if the audience already knows his issues will always be solved in the most optimal way there is, where would the dramatic tension of any kind come from?

Turn it into a comedy or have the machine turn on him and try to kill him or his girlfriend later on.

Well, it would be a comedy, like Cutler suggested.
