Did any of you see Valerian in 3D? I might see it while it's in theaters but I'm not sure whether I should give it the extra couple of dollars for the format.

The 3D is great.  See it in that format.

Currently debating over whether I should see Detroit, Atomic Blonde, or if I should just watch something on DVD.

Depending on how the timing works out, I'll either see Detroit, An Inconvenient Sequel, or Lady Macbeth tomorrow.
Goodbye!

I recommend Lady Macbeth, though to be fair I haven't seen the other two films yet.

Detroit is the most likely contender for me to see at the moment.  I'll definitely see the other two eventually, though, whether it be in theaters or when it's on streaming services.

Rented Andrei Rublev, 12 Angry Men, and Rashomon from my faculty's library  to take advantage of an incoming long weekend.

You won't be disappointed with 12 Angry Men. That's a top 10 all time film for me.

I still need to see Rashomon. Still not sure if I should prioritize Yojimbo over it though.

Since I have an extended Labor Day weekend I'm hoping to catch Good Time and the rerelease of Close Encounters of the Third Kind since I haven't seen that yet. Does anyone have a specific recommendation on a specific version of the latter?

I probably only have time to catch one movie this weekend; As a result I'm trying to decide between Stronger (mostly on account of the reviews and the cast), Menashe (a dramedy playing at the local indie theater that I've heard good things about), and mother!, though something on Netflix may be another alternative. Anyone have a recommendation between the three?

My family's been doing some cleaning of some rooms and in the midst of that I found various VHS copies of movies I didn't know we had, namely: The Shining, Brazil, and Amadeus.

For those of you who have seen the latter, would you recommend seeing the theatrical version (which we have), or the director's cut?

I'm gonna let you in on a secret.  Most people named Thomas/Tom hate that nickname Tommy.  Only a few actually roll with it.  Call us Tom or Thomas.  Never call us Tommy.

That's fine. It makes me a certain Tommy we had on here anyway.
