Saw a trailer for this before Ex Machina. That was, what, a year ago? The hell is going on here....

I vaguely remember seeing that trailer too. Apparently it has something to do with Relativity Media filing for bankruptcy.

I hate it when I'm in the middle of a movie and someone interrupts me.  Just happened today.  Was 30 minutes in Beasts of No Nation but got interrupted over silly stuff.  Decided it wasn't worth it and gave up on the film for today.

Reminds me a lot of Fukanaga's Sin Nombre.  I can see he brought some of his True Detective styling as well with some of the framing and landscaping.  I also love the execution scene and how the framing of each shot holds a powerful meaning.  For example (spoiler) the scene where the father is executed was done perfectly.  Rather than showing a full up and close dramatic gun down.  The DP and Fukanaga decided to do a quick cut to a far angle to show the father being executed nonchalantly.  Almost as if to say how the executions are a common occurrence.  Same with the brother (and that death actually held a lot of emotional impact on me.)  It was just a quick cut, almost as if the filmmakers were saying "Oh yeah, he just died."  But that's the unflinching reality of the situation.  No one is given enough thought to have a dramatic exit.  They leave on a dim note.

Also, damn, Idris Elba is one scary mofo.

All very good points. I am interested in hearing how you feel about it upon finishing it.

Unfortunatly, I couldn't finish Silence of the Lambs, due to how late it was and my need for sleep. What I've seen is pretty amazing, though.

Hopkins' performance in that movie is top 5 ever.

Not gonna bother finishing Taken 3. That's gotta be one of the worst editing jobs I've seen in a while. Gotta finish watching The BFG instead.

Ended up stopping Schumacher's Phantom of the Opera after that flashback scene with the Phantom as a kid. Will probably resume eventually, but not tonight, as I'm planning to finally watch Eye in the Sky.

So it happens that I was watching Scarface on Netflix in my phone. So I pause it, go eat breakfast and return to found that my family's account has been suspended due to an error on payment. Damn it!

Yeah, my dad it's working to get the thing fixed. From what I had seen, Al Pacino was fantastic as always and was rather surprised that he could pull such a great Hispanic accent.
