Mechanic: Resurrection - 3/10

Uh what?  That doesn't come out in theaters until August 26?
Goodbye!

Decided to look up "Mechanic: Resurrection online free" in Google and quite a few results came up.  Looks like John decided to pirate a movie again...*sigh*

Moody, be honest: would you rather he paid for it in theaters and so helped it become profitable while Popstar or The Nice Guys had flopped?

It may be sad that Nice Guys and Popstar flopped, but the truth is that the audience decides on what movies are successful.  Is it unfortunate that those films flopped?  Yes, it is.  However, it is completely fair.  If Mechanic Resurrection is a massive box office hit (which I highly doubt it'll be), then that means the audience decided they wanted to see it and made it into a hit.  It would be unfortunate if it made more than The Nice Guys and Popstar, but once again, that doesn't mean it's unfair.

John pirating a movie that he probably wanted to see (he wouldn't have watched it if he didn't want to see it) means that the film lost money from someone who would've payed to see it otherwise had it not had a pirated copy leaked online.  While Nice Guys and Popstar being flops is fair, a film being cheated out of money it would've otherwise earned isn't.
Goodbye!

Suicide Squad: 5/10

This is one of those rare films where it's obviously not a good film in the slightest (underdeveloped characters, inconsistent tone, abysmal villain, abhorrent editing) and yet at the same time there's admittedly a lot of fun to be had (entertaining action sequences, cool visuals, excellent performances, a ton of heart). It's enjoyable but simultaneously underwhelming.

So...Age of Ultron, essentially.

Sounds like a tolerable experience.

Will probably see it this weekend.

Rewatched The Terminator on Netflix. Still an action Sci-Fi Classic.

Managed to finally finish A Sound of Thunder. Oh my god, guys...this is better than Gods of Egypt in the "so bad, it's good" material.

Suicide Squad...I had a blast, but the plot was a mess.

Going with a 6/10 for now.

Interesting. I heard the plot was more boring and bland than a mess.

I'm gonna have to agree with John on Suicide Squad- it was a bit of a mess, had some rather underdeveloped characters, pacing issues in the middle and one of the least interesting villains ever but there's still a fair amount of enjoyment to be had here, mostly due to Will Smith and Margot Robie. The first half hour or so was pretty good, went downhill from there though. Jared Leto was okay. Still, can't give it a terrible rating since I did have a good time with a fair portion of it. I'll go with a 4/10.

What you heard was definitely closer to how I saw it.

In honor of my best friend moving away, I rewatched Superbad. I still think it's insane how well this film describes our relationship.

Anyways, it's still a high 9/10 for me. I'm certainly biased, but I can think of very few films more fun than this one.

I love that movie. It's hilarious of course, but it's one of the few comedies that matches that with real heart. Watching that ending post high school was a little emotional honestly.

"Harmless and forgettable kids film" describes it perfectly.

Kinda feel underwhelmed by The Invitation. Rather uneventful, I get that it's a slow burn, but didn't have the meat to keep me interested that much until the very end, where it actually succeds. Performances are ok, and the score was also nice. 7/10
