A Ghost Story: 10/10
To be honest, the Beethoven monologue is one of the worst scenes of the year.

Did you ever land on a score for this one? I remember you saying that you were conflicted about it.

I've more or less settled on a B- (if numerical then it's either a 6 or a 6.5). There was a lot I really liked about the film (primarily its aesthetic and the first half), but it started to lose me by the second half (where the scene I mentioned occurs).

It probably deserves another chance though. Not sure how much of my perception would change between a couple months though.

Blade Runner 2049, still processing everything. Wow. Um... 9/10, I guess? Idk, I gotta think about this.

I've been debating this over the last day with my friends, and I think I agree. 2049 may not be as groundbreaking and innovative as the original, but it tops it on nearly every other level.

You have to acknowledge its cultural impact though. Without it, thousands of conspiracy theory videos would be without a soundtrack.

Yes, a Slovakian television that doesn't have English subtitles is fucking gay.

Yeah, aside from what you mentioned the music is one of the only distinctly inferior qualities - partially because the Vangelis score is close to untouchable but also because Zimmer/Wallfisch probably didn't get as much time as would be preferable to crank out their score. That said, that OST is probably better than much of the OST's this year. From what I've seen so far this year the only notable standout is Dunkirk's score (I hear Good Time's soundtrack is great but I never got to see it in theaters), and I did like some of A Ghost Story's music.

Like Dead Man Walking, this was a film I began watching a week ago (for my Intro to Lit class, whereas Dead Man Walking was College Writing) and we just finished up today.
Everything is terrible.
