Isle of Dogs gets better as I think about it. Iím itching to rewatch it soon.

Care to elaborate on Sgt. Stubby? I remember seeing trailers for it and thought it looked somewhat disposable. The reaction from critics and the public is somewhat surprising.

Truth or Dare >>> Rampage
Uh, no. Rampage was actually well-made and had fun characters. Plus, its stupidity was endearing.

I'll probably see Rampage this week.  I'm having this sinking feeling that I might have them graded pretty closely.

This movie was so bad that Chris Stuckmann decided to give it a Hilariocity review as soon as it was released- something he's never done before.

Uh, no. Rampage was actually well-made and had fun characters. Plus, its stupidity was endearing.

Truth or Dare was far more aware that it was a stupid film than Rampage.  Rampage took itself way too seriously and relegated all the action to the third act; the first two acts was nothing but boring exposition.  Truth or Dare knew it was dumb.  It had a tongue-in-cheek vibe to it that made it far more entertaining than it would've otherwise been.
Goodbye!

Flounder tends to parrot what Chris Stuckmann says and/or thinks.  So this isn't at all surprising...

I saw it a month ago and agree - it moved up to an 8/10 for me.

Isle of Dogs wasn't quite as definitively better than Fantastic Mr. Fox as I was hoping for.

It seemed to have a lot less energy than something like Fox or Grand Budapest.  More zen and quiet, for better or worse.  Also a bit emotionally exhausting.  There were some gut punches in here I wasn't prepared for.  The relief moments hit fine but good god was the overall atmosphere of the island relentlessly depressing.

I think if I had to take any major issue with it, it's that all the subplots don't quite come together as well as they should.  The foreign exchange student is likable but a bit too useless in the grand scheme, and even though Edward Norton's character was pretty important early on, he and the rest of the alpha dog side characters just kinda vanish towards the end.  He had a solid dynamic with Chief but it doesn't really get a proper resolution.

Other than that I really enjoyed it.  Thinking somewhere around a 7.5 or an 8.

So has Isle of Dogs shifted your opinion on claymation at all?
