Wind River was actually pretty great - super well-done narrative, reminded me a bit of Hell or High Water for some reason (neo-western vibe) but was better.  I give this film a 75%.

Finally, another decent 2017 film.  Gotta see new Blade Runner still.

Porco Rosso is solid mid-tier Ghibli, with layered characters and impressive visuals. Definitely a more underrated film of theirs.

Almost saw this last weekend, but the times didn't work out unfortunately.  I'm guessing it would have been better than either Deadpool 2 or Breaking In.

Yeah, Deadpool 2 was pretty mediocre.  I think it was slightly better than the first, but the first one had the novelty of being something at least mildly different.  The jokes were much more miss than hit, and the action was as boring and inconsequential as any other recent superhero film.

Agree with all except I thought it was MUCH worse than the first.  The first had better jokes, better action, and a better villain.  Plus, making Deadpool into some bleeding-heart "hero" when they went out of their way to show that he wasn't that in the first (even though he had some "soft spots") was pretty lame tbh.

Definitely don't think the first had a better villain...that bald dude was of the worst superhero villains I've ever seen.  I really liked Josh Brolin in this one.  I thought the jokes were mostly on par with the first, but the humour definitely gets old quick and there were a lot of diminishing returns.  Tbh, I don't think I'll be re-watching either of them intentionally.

The Rider kind of blew me away. Easily my favorite of the year so far. The film has some pretty incredible cinematography, yields authentic performances from a cast of untrained actors, and has the patience to avoid both sugarcoating and tragedy porn (looking at you, Lean on Pete).

Leaning between an A- and an A.

You don't think Francis was better than John Tyler as the villain?  Yikes!

Still haven't seen it.  I will get around to it eventually.  You do know it's Isle of Dogs I'm assuming though.  Unless you were "Moanaed" when you saw it.

Itís probably on DVD. Iíd be curious to hear your thoughts since itís a lot less serious than, say, Spirited Away while still being an interesting watch.

Book Club > Solo

Were thinking of seeing that today, but theater was beyond capacity.  We have a ton of old folks in our town - so movies like this tend to do really, really well around here.  We'll have to wait a few weeks before it clears out a little.

I saw it in a packed theater and it was nothing but old people.  Was definitely the youngest one in there by like 50 years.  Thought I walked into a retirement home.
Goodbye!
