People love this one and I have absolutely no idea why:

I think it's charming, in an over-the-top, cheesy sorta way.

Nostalgia helps.

I still consider it better than the remake.

Charming? Really? I found it more annoying than anything else. As for the over-the-top and cheesy aspects, I didn't really find those endearing. Also, the characters are bland, the acting is wooden, and the songs are just completely unremarkable and forgettable filler to kill the momentum and pad the runtime out to two hours. And for a film released the same year as Star Wars, it looks like it was made twenty years prior.

I'm too lazy to find posters, so I'll list some stuff that comes to mind.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Hidden Figures
Under the Same Moon
The Good Dinosaur
Star Trek Beyond
My Neighbor Totoro (I actually like this one, but think that its iconic status is undeserved, and that Ghibli went on to make much better films)
Captain America: Civil War

I can't for the life of me find a smaller poster, so live with it.

It's a shit film, but I don't think it's overrated in the slightest. It's extremely divisive if anything on this forum, and I've seen similar reactions elsewhere. I don't know of anyone who absolutely loves it enough to rate it highly.

The fact that it's fresh on RT when it's on par with Shyamalan's shittiest films makes it overrated by default in my eyes.

It's not even certified fresh. It's right smack dab in the middle of the RT score system that they use, look at the audience rating too. You have no idea what overrated means, do you?

It got Shyamalan a freaking Razzie redemption award. And anyway, everyone I've talked to in person that's seen it says they loved it. Why are we still debating this?

Guys, if you're seriously having trouble finding appropriately-sized posters, just look up the movies on Wikipedia. They've got condensed images for basically any film you can think of.

Or go on the "tools" tab on the top of Google Images and, under size, select medium.
Goodbye!

I thought this movie generally got shit on, at least on the internet. Not sure how it can be overrated.
