I posted this list on Letterboxd- https://boxd.it/Orq2 - a few months back and it's suddenly turned into a lively discussion so we can carry on here!

Sadly I've only seen a handful of these. I'll have to check a few of them out sometime through Netflix. I've been trying to see more foreign films lately.

Any others you'd recommend Diego as this list is far from exhaustive

I mean, I have no idea what films are available in the UK, but Blue is the Warmest Color comes to mind. Also, Cutler recommended this film called Delicatessen to me a while back and it was pretty good. I'm afraid I don't know all that much about French cinema.

They've been added to the list already, but the two notable French films I've really appreciated are Michael Haneke's Amour (one of the best films of the decade in my opinion) and the Dardenne brothers' Two Days, One Night (that film Marion Cotillard got an Oscar nomination for a couple years ago). They might not be the most accessible (especially the former) but I think they're worthwhile watches nonetheless.

Yes BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR is excellent. DELICATESSEN is an acquired taste - an early work from Jean-Paul Jeunet who went on to make AMELIE
