Been watching a lot of M*A*S*H reruns lately.  Easily a top 5 all-time show.

I have no one else to talk about this show with aside from my parents. Who's your favorite character?

Honestly, my favorite character is Henry Blake.  But he's only on for the first couple of seasons unfortunately.  I do think they did a really good job of replacing characters - though in each case the originals were better, the replacements were more than adequate.  BJ replaces Trapper.  Charles replaces Frank.  Potter replaces Blake.  Pretty good cast coming and going.  I'd say Trapper is probably my 2nd favorite character.  They are all so well defined and most of them have phenomenal character arcs (except maybe Frank and Blake).

Yep, I'm completely with you there. The speech he gives in the new mess hall is probably my favorite quote of the whole show: "General, it's both an honor and a pleasure and a privilege to be here in this place that by only through which your magnanimous generosity could we be standing here in the middle of it." His butchery of the English language is great.

I also like the dynamic of replacing Frank with Charles. Swapping out an incompetent surgeon for a good one, but both manage to be insufferable a lot of the time.

And they were pretty amazing with the dichotomy of their replacements.  As you mentioned, Frank with Charles.  But BJ (the down to Earth family man) replacing the womanizing prankster in Trapper.  And Henry (the drunk "regular guy" who happens to be in a leadership role) with the career military stickler in Potter.  Yet, even though these replacements are so different from their predecessors, they somehow migrate in some way towards the characteristics of the guys they replaced - except for Charles that is, whose only similarity to Frank is their ability to annoy the fuck out of everyone.

You guys watch Silicon Valley? I'm bummed that this site collapsed before I could write a spoof of it with Danny Oh as Jian Yang.

I fee like Danny would have just raged at being compared to Jian Yang and gotten mad about the character being detrimental to the perception of Asian-Americans or something.

Exactly. It would've been great. Plus Bread would've made a perfect Gilfoyle.

Bread as Gilfoyle would've been beautiful. I feel like you'd have to be Richard in this casting though.

I had been thinking Bachmann for myself due to the dynamic with Danny Oh, but that actually works so much better. Cutler is Bachmann. Frank is Dinesh. Dylan is Gavin Belson. And you're Jared-- seemingly harmless, but with a dark genocidal side.
