The New on Netflix Thread
« on: June 15, 2017, 01:42:53 pm »
This thread is kind of a crossover with the TV Show Watching Thread, but more specifically for Netflix shows and movies that are being added to stream.

House of Cards season 5 is out. I watched the first episode, and honestly, it was better than I expected (probably because my expectations have been rock-bottom since season 2). We'll see if I end up finishing it.

Oh, and they took Firefly off. Write to your congressman about this, please.

I need to catch up on HOUSE OF CARDS.  I began to think it was a bit far-fetched but by comparison but recent events in US politics, it seems quite mild!

House of Cards season 5 is alright for the first 5-6 episodes, but becomes so absurd that it's impossible to take seriously. And this is from someone who actually found season 3 and the America Works plotline watchable.

I'm curious about what "absurd" looks like these days, so I guess I'll check it out.

Also, Chris, did you watch the original British House of Cards? I've heard that it's better as a whole.

Not only absurd, but some of what the characters do is just retarded. I think you'll find it unintentionally funny though (although for me it mostly just made me mad since my memories of seasons 1/2 are so fond).

@Diego I think I watched the British original when first shown on the BBC but that was about 20 years ago, I believe!

I should change this to the "stuff they've taken off of Netflix thread." It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is gone. And what do they put on in its place? Some crap called "The Godfather?" Pfft.
