The Consensus General Thread
« on: January 20, 2016, 12:06:53 am »
First off, big thanks to Dylan and Treet for getting the ball rolling on bringing back Trollfighters Consensus. It'll be just like the good old days.

Second off, the current banner for this board is not set in stone. It looks a little pixely, so if anyone has some suggestions for a new one, feel free to say hey.

And thirdly... Consensus is back! As far as I can tell, the vast majority of the old threads were deleted because the admins banned my account, so over time, we might end up with some repeats here. A few were saved, so maybe I can copy those in. But for now, let's talk about what the first consensus should be. Paasche says we should hold off on doing Oscar noms until more people have seen them, but since there's no time limit on voting, we could do it now. If anyone has other suggestions, let's hear 'em.

==EDIT #1==

I don't want anyone to think Consensus is just for me. So other people are totally allowed to make their own consensuses as well. However, just for the sake of making sure this doesn't get out of hand, I think we should continue with the old tradition of numbering the consensuses, linking to the previous one, and not having too many going on at once. I remember Shockwave made his own consensus back on RT and it was a resounding success.

==EDIT #2==

I have also been considering how to do this using polls, but I really don't see how it would work unless we did a consensus for each and every movie (which is more or less what we have right now on Specific New Release Movie Discussions). Besides, polls can be rigged (which I know all too well, to my shame... and which Cutler knows all too well, to no shame at all). So I think it'd be best if we just kept doing it the old way-- tallying up the votes and doing the math.

Great! Loved these things.

I think the obvious choice is to rate the current Best Picture nominees.

I think so too. Goldblum and I have seen them all. And anyone who still needs to play catch-up can cast their votes later. There's no time limit on these.

I've seen most of 'em. I was supposed to see Brooklyn today, but I became sick. Gonna try to see it before the week's end. Also need to see Room and Bridge of Spies.

I haven't seen a movie in 3 weeks...I am way too far behind to catch up now...

I'm afraid there's little to be done about it now... that was my main account, but all the comments written on GD/movie discussion are gone now. As you can see, the threads for Consensus are still there, but my original posts aren't, and sadly those are the ones I used to tally the votes.

Oh fucking lame...well, that just gives us a chance to revote and debate all these films again anyway...

I think those lines in the sand have been drawn pretty deeply - I highly doubt anybody's opinion has changed much...I'll grab my popcorn...

Sweet! Let's start with the Best Picture nominees. Like Paaaasche, I've only seen a few of them, but we can add to the tally over time.

Yeah - the picture for this board doesn't resonate with me for some reason.  When I'm on the main board, it just looks a little out of place for whatever reason.  Maybe it's the pixelation like Diego said...

I agree... we went a little overboard here. No need to try and pump them out fast. We'll end up like WatchMojo.com and run out of material to cover.

I'm not disagreeing, but still, they made a video about the top ten movie owls.

They're still both bad, but at least WatchMojo stuck with one account.

Sure you can.

Back to BuzzFeed, I have SEVEN Buzzfeed channels blocked by my channel blocker. I unblocked them all, and the first few (Video, Yellow, Blue, and Violet I believe) ALL spammed out around 2 - 4 videos per day. I think it's safe to agree that BuzzFeed is the scurge of YouTube.
