Current (Tentative) Predictions:

BEST PICTURE: Ex Machina

BEST DIRECTOR: George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road)

BEST ACTOR: Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight) (I've gotten this wrong enough times to make the assumption that he was everyone's favorite lead performance.)

BEST ACTRESS: Brie Larson (Room)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) (Even if she doesn't win for this she has the lead with a 40% likelihood)

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Spotlight (I just don't see Ex Machina winning this one. Also, speaking as a fan of The Force Awakens, it shouldn't be put in Original Screenplay.)

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: The Big Short

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Based on a prediction exchange during the Oscars)

BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN: I feel like Mad Max has the advantage, though Star Wars could pull an upset.

BEST COSTUME DESIGN: Crimson Peak

BEST VISUAL EFFECTS: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: The Revenant

BEST EDITING: Mad Max: Fury Road

BEST ENSEMBLE: The Hateful Eight

MOST PLEASANT SURPRISE: Kingsman

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Terminator Genisys

BEST SCENE: Luke's reveal (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

WORST ACTOR: Eddie Redmayne (Jupiter Ascending) (Maybe you'll surprise us by accepting the award on your own behalf  ;))

WORST ACTRESS: Mila Kunis (Jupiter Ascending)

WORST PICTURE: Fifty Shades of Grey

Good choices, Kashmir! I actually haven't decided on many of these myself haha. As for Jupiter Ascending, I actually did really like the visuals, but yeah, I mostly just added it to see if anyone would notice. The Revenant probably deserves a nomination more.

Well, my schedule has been letting up (the math test I was supposed to have tomorrow was postponed until after spring break), so regardless it's still fine.

I'm becoming iffy on some of my predictions...

WORST ACTOR: Eddie Redmayne

I mean, c'mon, who else could I pick? Tatum and Dornan may have been dull and awkward, but Redmayne was just....wow.

WORST ACTRESS: Mila Kunis

As much as I find her pleasing to look at, Kunis just cannot carry a film. Much less a sci-fi epic. It was a close call between her and Emilia Clarke, but Kunis' delivery of that infamous "dogs" line just barely pushed her over the edge.

WORST PICTURE: Fifty Shades of Grey

I'm still rather baffled by how awful this film was. I mean, I knew it would be bad, but this was just unprecedented. Hands down the worst dialogue I've heard in years. "I'm fifty shades of fucked up" will forever haunt my memory.....

"I'm fifty shades of fucked up"
What's the context of this line in the movie?

I believe he was either trying to explain his "dark past" or why he was dangerous for Anastasia.

Oh.  That's dumb.  I figured that they were doing drugs in the scene or something.

Nah, I wish. That would've been far edgier than anything that actually occurred in the film.

MOST PLEASANT SURPRISE: Kingsman

While I'm a huge fan of Kick-Ass, my initial excitement for Kingsman wasn't that high. I thought it looked like just another generic action movie. I never even anticipated it to be the non-stop thrill ride it truly was, filled to the brim with great characters and hilarious satire. Absolutely love this film.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Jupiter Ascending

The Wackowski siblings (sisters? Brosters?) were coming off making one of my all-time favorite films, Cloud Atlas, and creating an exciting looking original sci-fi movie starring yours truly, Mila Kunis, and Sean Bean. The trailers looked great and the plot intrigued me, so I didn't let any of the negative rumors surrounding its production bother me. Even when the abysmal reviews came in, I still went in optimistic. When I came out of the film, I was rather shocked. I tried to focus on the positives, but in the end, I had to face the facts: Jupiter Ascending isn't a good film. I didn't hate it, but damn, I was expecting so much more.

While I may have rated films like Terminator: Genisys lower, I simply didn't have the same expectations I had for this one. A huge disappointment from some of my favorite directors in possibly my favorite genre.

BEST SCENE: Luke's reveal (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

In any other year, something like Keanu's "free pizza" rant would win this hands down. But this year, a new Star Wars movie came out. The feeling I got when I saw Luke turn around in TFA reminded me why I love movies, and I can't truly describe it any better than that. It was just a magical moment.
